Do Swedish citizens need a visa to visit Thailand?
With a tourist visa, Swedish citizens can stay in Thailand for no longer than 60 days. If you wish to stay in Thailand for more than 60 days, you can extend your stay with the Immigration Bureau.

Tourist Visa
A Swedish citizen may enter Thailand without a visa for tourism purposes for an initial stay of up to 60 days. This period may be extended once for an additional 30 days, subject to approval by an immigration officer and payment of a 1,900 Baht fee. Swedish citizens interested in this extension should contact the nearest Thai Immigration Bureau office for further information.
Work Visa
All foreigners wishing to work in Thailand must secure both a Thai work permit and a Thai work visa. To acquire a work permit, an application must be submitted by an employer, foreign government agency, or another organization based in Thailand on behalf of the individual. Once issued, the work visa remains valid for one year.
Retirement Visa
Thailand offers retirement visas to foreigners aged 50 years or older. These visas are valid for one year, and holders are strictly prohibited from engaging in any form of employment. For further details and specific requirements, please contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Visa Overstay
If a person remains in Thailand after their airport permit or visa expires, they will be considered to be staying illegally. To leave Thailand, the individual must pay an overstay fine of 500 baht per day, up to a maximum total of 20,000 baht. This fine can be paid at the Immigration Bureau, the Suvarnabhumi Airport Immigration office, or other authorized departure points.
